Print Image Resolution: Print sizes are image resolution dependent. To achieve the highest print quality on our Epson Inkjet equipment the print resolution of your image should be set to 360 ppi, provided that no image interpolation (especially from enlargement) was required to achieve it. Image interpolation should be avoided where possible. If an enlargement beyond the maximum native pixel dimensions of your image is required, we suggest that you send the image to us with clear instructions as to the dimensions to which you would like the images enlarged. We will work with you to achieve the highest quality enlargement of your image. A crisp, sharp, motion free image can usually be enlarged very successfully to twice its native size – and considerably larger with proper care and treatment.  See File Preparation page.  If you need assistance with configuring your image for enlargement, please feel free to contact us.

As a guide to determine your correct image size for print, prepare your image to its final size at a print resolution as described above and make a record of its pixel dimensions. Then choose the print size which fits best from the drop-down list below by making sure the image dimensions fit within the maximum allowable pixel dimensions for each print size. Maximum pixel dimensions which are specific to each print size are included in the drop down list under “Size” below. Your image must fit within the maximum pixel dimensions of the chosen print size. Otherwise, a larger print will be required. If you want to have specific borders for your print, add them to the total dimensions of the image before you select the print size.

For Example: If your image is 5400 x 7200 pixels or 15” x 20” at a print resolution of 360 ppi then the required print size would be 17” x 22”. Please note that this leaves very little paper border – about 1″ on all sides. This won’t matter too much if your image will be matted when framed. But if you require more border, select the next larger print size. If you require a specific border size, add this to the image size and choose the print size into which the entire area fits best.

Beware of fake fine art media. A few printers in town offer prints on some nameless, generic paper which they refer to simply as “Fine Art.” While these papers may look similar to the real thing they are usually textureless and  fail in terns of poor printability due to cheap ink receptive coatings. Prints can be very weak and unsharp.  All the fine papers that we carry are authentic as made by mills such as Canson, ARCHES, Hahnemuhle, Fabriano, MOAB, Ilford and Awagami.  The quality of the papers we offer is unsurpassable as is the quality of our prints.
